This option should be the most popular for travelers from Binh Thuan. You can catch coach from Binh Thuan to Ha Tien or Rach Gia then buy a ticket to Phu Quoc by speed boat.
Coaches from Binh Thuan are available in Phan Ri, with 1 company (Lien Hung) operating 9 trips a day, averagely 9 hours a trip. A coach ticket from Binh Thuan to Kien Giang costs 300,000VND. Coaches depart at 15:30 and 16:00 every day.
Boats from Kien Giang:
*From Rach Gia:
From the wharf, the boats depart at 8:00 and 13:00; if you don’t want to stay at Rach Gia, you should book or buy 8:00 ticket. There are 2 major boat brands which are Savanna and Superdong II . Price for one ticket is respectively 200,000VND and 270,000VND. The sailing time would be from 1 and a half hour to 2 hours and a half depending on the climate condition. There are also tickets from Vong beach’s wharf to the commune’s center selling on the boat, priced at 20,000VND to 30,000VND. Or you can take a taxi (if you go with group) or motor taxi (30,000VND) to the center of Duong Dong commune.
*From Ha Tien:
From Ha Tien, small fast ferries can take you from Thach Thoi ferry wharf to Da Chong wharf in 2 hours of traveling. Or by speedboat from Ha Tien wharf to An Thoi Quay in 1 hour and 15 minutes. There are some boats you should choose:
- Hong Tam 1: 8:45 – 10:30 – 215,000VND
- Hong Tam 2: 13:30 – 15:00 – 215,000VND
- Superdong 1: 13:15 – 15:00 – 230,000VND
- Thach Thoi: 8:20 – 10:50 – 165,000VND
By planes from Binh Thuan:
From Binh Thuan, there are no straight flights to Phu Quoc International Airport just yet. So to transfer by planes, you have to get to Ho Chi Minh City first by buses because flights from Binh Thuan to HCMC aren’t available yet.

Flights from HCMC to Phu Quoc island are available daily from three airlines Vietnamairlines, VietJet Air and JetStar. Air tickets range from 290,000VND to 1,000,000VND. VietJet Air and JetStar are two reliable low cost airlines while airfares from Vietnamairlines are considerable higher.
Transfer from Phu Quoc international airport to Duong Dong town:
The international airport in Phu Quoc is opened in 2012. It located away from the center of Dong Duong town about 15 kilometers. The road connects the airport to Dong Duong is Tran Hung Dao road which is filled hotels, resorts, restaurants and cafés.
To get to the central town, you can hire a motorbike driver (xe om) or take a taxi (about 160,000VND to Duong Dong, cheaper if to Long Beach) which is always available. A shared van/shuttle from Jetstar is also a good choice, it costs you about 50,000VND. You can find their desk when you exit the airport.
